Desktop app
The desktop app is the WordPuppi admin in a native window, with a built-in terminal dock underneath it. It signs in to your WordPuppi account (app.wordpuppi.com), so your sites and content are the same ones you see in the browser. This page covers where to download it and how to install it.
Download
Every build is published on GitHub Releases. Open the latest release and pick the file for your system.
| System | File |
|---|---|
| macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel) | .dmg |
| Linux x64 (alpha) | .AppImage, .deb, or .rpm |
| Windows x64 (alpha) | -setup.exe |
Install on macOS
Open the .dmg and drag WordPuppi into Applications. The app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens without any Gatekeeper workaround, and one download covers both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Install on Windows
Download the installer
From the latest release, download WordPuppi_*_x64-setup.exe.
Run it
Double-click the installer. It is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows Windows protected your PC. Click More info, then Run anyway, and finish the installer.
The Windows app updates itself, and Ctrl ` toggles the terminal dock.
Install on Linux
Check for webkit2gtk-4.1
The app needs webkit2gtk-4.1 on the host: Ubuntu 22.04 or newer, Debian 12 or newer, or Fedora 37 or newer. On Ubuntu and Debian, install it if it is missing:
sudo apt install libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0 Install the package
Pick one format.
# AppImage: make it executable, then run it
chmod +x WordPuppi_*_amd64.AppImage
./WordPuppi_*_amd64.AppImage
# Debian and Ubuntu
sudo apt install ./WordPuppi_*_amd64.deb
# Fedora
sudo dnf install ./WordPuppi-*.x86_64.rpm Stay up to date
The macOS app, the Windows app, and the Linux AppImage update themselves. To check on demand, choose Check for Updates from the app menu on macOS, or from Help on Windows and Linux.
Use the terminal dock
The dock sits under the admin and opens a shell in your workspace folder. Press Cmd ` on macOS, or Ctrl ` on Windows and Linux, to show or hide it. Terminal, New Terminal starts a fresh session.
